The Events Artery worked together with the Health Promotion Board to conceptualize and manage this event targeted at three different sectors - the Private, Public and People sector. The event at Toa Payoh HDB Hub, which was part of the National Smoking Control campaign, was a success with hundred of pledges made under heavy media coverage from Channel 5, Channel News Asia and other print/online publications. The Events Artery planned a program that included an exciting launch sequence and clever exhibition booth designs complete with interactive games and computers for visitors to explore the I Quit Facebook page and application.

I stayed at the Circus Circus this past December (2010) and I stayed at the Skyrise Tower. The first day that we were there was good. We arrived at 8pm and we went to the rooms we settled in and then we went for a walk on the promenade and the Adventuredome. Finding the right elevator was hard at first because the back ones go from 18-25 but the first ones only go from 1-18. We were in floor 21 so we were somewhat confused. The second day we had a good time in the morning. Now in the afternoon it became a pain to go to the room. The elevators would go all the way up and they would fill up with people and it would be hot and annoying to get into the rooms and then back out. Also while we were relaxing in the room there some sort of leakage happening in the room, the carpeting next to the bathroom wall next to the bed was soaked. We called the front desk and they sent someone to check it and they could not find the cause of the damage. They offered to move me and my roommate to another room or place towels on the floor to try to dry off the carpet. We could not move because we had two other rooms being used by our group and the hotel would not be able to move them. We were forced to stay in the room and they sent over towels to place on the floor. The next morning before we left the hotel we noticed that the floor and the towels were soaked and it was so much that it would start to smell bad. My roommate actually got sick because of the water damage. The hotel was generous ...

North Wales in 1958. Promotional film for Prestatyn Holiday Camp, Seemingly aimed at the more middle class holiday maker (posh voiceover etc.). Opens with shots of couple pouring over holiday brochures and visiting travel agents. They can't make their minds up and he thoughtfully rests his head on his hands, as he rests his elbows on a table. Man outside travel agents. Form filling in a travel agents. Train moving through Prestatyn railway station as holiday makers walk along platform, restaurant car passes. Couple are welcomed onto single decker bus by girl. He carries two suitcases. On arrival at camp they marvel at the pristine white modernist buildings - "so continental". Reception are at camp where wife encourages husband (who looks as if he might not enjoy his holiday) to take booking forms from his jacket pocket. She wears a headscarf. Couple walk to their chalet, still in their formal travel clothes. The door is brown their luggage is brown and inside the curtains are brown. Chalet has a built-in wardrobe (ooooo), and a chest of drawers which she inspects. Is he going to? - Yes he does - he bounces up and down on the mattress of one of the twin beds to check how comfy it is. Man has a shower. General shots of camp, girl sitting on edge of fountain, chalets, bars being greeted by Blue Coats, dining hall with "no queuing " etc. Introduces blue coats: "and what good fellas they were ... they didn't mind in the least if you didn't join in." Ballroom with ballroom ...

A collection of pictures to summarize my time in Belize during January 2012 with Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Senior Colloquium class. I had the opportunity to spend a week in Belmopan, a week in San Jose Succotz, a week in San Pedro Columbia, and the last week in Belize City and Caye Caulker. We worked primarily in schools and an orphanage building relationships, making crafts, playing games, stetting up computer labs, and teaching. We also helped distribute Life Straws with our SIFE team and got to site see throughout the country.
