I did a return visit on April 14, 2011. Tons of empty buildings remain. Some look like they are occupied and have signage but it is signage from buildings that came and went under already in last two years! READ the environmental study of the SILVERLINE on the Rapids website. It delinates how many major intersections from 54th street to Franklin are expected to FAIL if the silverline is voted in. (intersections expected to Fail include 54th, 48th, 44th...28th, Burton and more.. The Study had one remedy for the traffic congestion problems all along Division: DON"T use the SIlverline as a rapid transit bus. and OPERATE IT WITHOUT the Traffic Signal Priority system so you have a duplicate bus that is no faster than the current one! WOW! The Rapid has hatched a plan to sell this poorly planned not-rapid transit bus with the big tax increase to college students to get the SIlverline through. They have taken advertisements about the Silverline off television hoping voters won't realize the Rapid's plan has this Silverline NOT Rapid transit bus attached again. . VOTE NO to higher taxes on May 3 -besides higher taxes during a recession causing more foreclosures, the new bus will HURT the poor as it will have fewer stops. Let's set the record straight about that. My opponent saw 100 requests come to his desk in the entire time he was governor. I saw 8700 come to mine. 8700. And 90 percent of them, I denied. And some of them were like the 25-year old student who wanted to go to culinary school and learn to be a chef. But when he was 18 years old, he had taken a joyride in a car that someone else had stolen, and he happened to be with the guy, and so he got charged and that was on his record. That blot on his record when he was 18 kept him from being able to go to school and get the job that he wanted. That was a clemency. Now personally I think that was the right thing to do, to give that man a second chance because I'd rather him be working as a chef then had to be unemployed and probably up to no good, out on the streets with nothing to do and no jobs. Many of the clemencies were 35-year-old single moms, trying to raise a couple kids and get a job, entry-level into the nursing home, long-term health business. They couldn't get hired because we require background checks for people who work in day-cares and nursing homes. And they wrote a hot check when they were 17, 18 years old, that's on their record, now they can't get hired. The process is, the board makes the recommendation, I look at it and make those ...

For Pennsylvania deputy sheriffs, there is only one place to go for complete certification and that is the Penn State Justice and Safety Institute (JASI). JASI's diverse group of instructors have trained thousands of deputies in partnership with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and its Deputy Sheriffs' Education and Training Board.
