UPDATE: May 2009, Thunder Bay, Ontario has allowed the forced hair cutting of a 7 yr old little First Nation boy by a teacher's aid at McKellar Park Central Public School. They never fired the teacher's aide. In fact, "the Crown" says it was not that big of a deal. This is really sick, cruel, hateful, and rude. Many children forced to go to these schools were abused in many ways, to include rape, sexual molestation, beatings, and murder. This was taken from scenes of Steven Spielberg's Into the West but it is based on true events. In reality, it was worse than what was shown in the movie.

South American native civilization and their contributions South American native civilization and their contributions South American native civilization and their contributions
Short documentary about about the South American native civilization and their contributions to the "new world". The Inca Civilizations was an aboriginal American Indian culture that evolved in the Andean region (western South America) prior to Spanish exploration and conquest in the 16th century. The pre-Columbian civilization was extraordinary in its developments of human society and culture, ranking with the early civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia. There are several myths about Pre-Inca Civilizations. As with all ancient civilizations, legends and ancient stone carvings and monuments speak of creation by gods who came from the skies, yet no one is certain how any of these civilizations came into being. Many just seem to spring up as if out of no where. There is a pre-Incan legend that speaks of Viracocha who is depicted in many forms. There is a duality about this deity, which is not unlike gods in other civilizations - the good god and the warrior side to his personality. We see him as he enlightened god in the white robes who brings knowledge and the warrior god with staves in his hands and a sun symbol around his head, not unlike the sun god Ra in ancient Egypt. As we third dimension is a duality - all things have good and evil charactistics - including the gods of all myths. Viracocha - as duality is depicted as the sun god of creation [wearing a sun crown] and the moon god. Viracocha, as the feathered serpent god, is one of the great mysteries of ancient ...

Fighting for the Soul of Native America -- USA Fighting for the Soul of Native America -- USA Fighting for the Soul of Native America -- USA
April 1999 Marginalised Native Americans are using loopholes in reservation law to beat the USA at its best game: making money. For decades Indians have been corralled onto tiny unproductive reservations where alcohol and welfare dependency destroyed their culture. But a loophole in the reservation system - meaning they are not subject to state laws - is enabling Indian tribes to reap riches from the US obsession with gambling. Chief Pico speaks proudly of the transformation of his people, "We're entrepreneurs now, we understand that game...we'll be building a museum dedicated to conTemporary Native America soon with another casino, golf course and hotel." This new found capitalist assimilation though has raised plenty of opposition, especially from neighbouring Nevada, who are outraged that the Indians can run casinos tax free in a State where gambling is illegal. The Vegas gambling chiefs are bankrolling huge opposition groups, and waging a high profile debate on State TV. The casino profits, which by law must be spent within the reservations, are allowing the Indian land to bloom, the start Chief Pico says of a Native American cultural renaissance. CHILDREN OF THE STARS ( Dedicated to Native American Woman and their hard work to save the World ) CHILDREN OF THE STARS ( Dedicated to Native American Woman and their hard work to save the World ) CHILDREN OF THE STARS ( Dedicated to Native American Woman and their hard work to save the World )
Native American women traditionally belonged to a culture that gave them respect and where they had power, autonomy and equality. Through the last hundred years and due to European colonization they have lost all that they had. Presently Aboriginal women suffer from a high rate of poverty. They also experience racism and sexism from Western cultures and have even lost respect from their own culture. European legislations, reserve life and residential schools have led to a loss of language, culture, family and self-esteem. But Native American women are the hope of the future for their culture. Native women are making visible efforts to renew traditions and to improve education, through self rule and by healing from within the culture itself. They are a strong group who will not quit fighting for their people because they are still the nurturers, counselors, spiritual and medical healers and providers of the First Nations People. Native women of the past were respected and valued for their contribution to the survival of their families. Their knowledge of plants, their ability to cure and preserve food and their opinion in political matters was all valued. Native women in the present are experiencing a distinct loss of that respect and value from within their culture and from outside of it. They are experiencing increased abuse at the hands of their husbands. Women are also losing respect for themselves as indicated by their increased addiction to drugs and alcohol and by ...
