Non profit Community Service center under Fire. Help Needed. Hello, my name is Gideon Glen McGuire Augier, I am a former criminal, I do not make excuses for my actions. I have paid for my crimes and have been crime-free for over ten years. When I was a criminal my crimes were driven by purpose. My purpose was to feed my addiction. At the time I had no thought or feeling of the effects of my crimes on the community I lived in or society as a whole. My addiction was gambling. Many people in society generally do not understand the power that addictions, whether drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc, can have over an individual. While all addictions are generated by choices, the first choice may be the worst mistake of a persons life as was mine making the first choice to gamble. My first choice led to choices to gamble again to get that thrill that I got the first time. Soon I had trouble staying away from it. I ran out of money from the jobs I had and sought crime to fund my habit. I broke my addiction with the help of my mother and dedication to God in May of 2000. I worked at it one day at a time and before I knew it a year had gone by without gambling, then two years, three and now over eleven years have gone by without gambling. I had many penalties for my criminal acts which I took responsibility for and made good when I could. San Diego City College Science Building Groundbreaking Ceremony
San Diego City College hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new Science building, a four-story building with 98978 gross square feet to house the Astronomy, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences programs. The new building will include multiple laboratories, science lecture classrooms, a rooftop observation deck and a planetarium. The 57.2 million project, funded as part of the San Diego Community College Districts 1.555 billion Propositions S and N construction bond program, is on track to obtain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED Gold certification from the United States Green Building Council USGBC, one of 12 across the District and among a total of 30 LEED certifications.
