John Williams remembers Raymond Scott John Williams remembers Raymond Scott John Williams remembers Raymond Scott
This amateur footage was shot by me, Jeff Winner, while Stan Warnow (Raymond Scott's son) and I interviewed movie music maestro John Williams at the Tanglewood estate and music venue in Lenox and Stockbridge, Massachusetts, on August 4th of 2008. Some of Stan's footage was used in the new feature-length, award-winning documentary film, "DECONSTRUCTING DAD" (ScottDoc.com), but this segment has never been seen before. From Wiki John Williams was born on February 8, 1932 in Long Island, New York, the son of Esther and John Williams, Sr. His father was a jazz percussionist who played with the Raymond Scott Quintette. John Towner Williams is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. In a career spanning almost six decades, he has composed some of the most recognizable film scores in the history of motion pictures, including the Star Wars saga, Jaws, Superman, the Indiana Jones films, ET the Extra-Terrestrial, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Home Alone and the first three Harry Potter films. He has had a long association with director Steven Spielberg, composing the music for all but two of Spielberg's major feature films. Other notable works by Williams include theme music for four Olympic Games, NBC Sunday Night Football, the NBC Nightly News, the rededication of the Statue of Liberty, the DreamWorks Pictures production logo, and the television series Lost in Space. Williams has also composed numerous classical concerti, and he served as the principal conductor of ...

My Choice - Miklós Rózsa: King of Kings (Pics of Mdina) My Choice - Miklós Rózsa: King of Kings (Pics of Mdina) My Choice - Miklós Rózsa: King of Kings (Pics of Mdina)
King of Kings (1961) is an American motion picture epic made by Samuel Bronston Productions and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Directed by Nicholas Ray, it is a retelling of the story of Jesus from his birth to his crucifixion and Resurrection. Complimenting this music we're showing photos of Malta's old Capital, Mdina, mostly taken at night by Choy Hong (Jasmine) Grech. King of Kings is also memorable for the music score by legendary composer Miklós Rózsa, which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Rózsa's most recent work at the time was the score for MGM's hugely successful religious epic Ben-Hur (1959), for which he won his third Oscar. Rózsa composed the scores for many of MGM's epic films, including Quo Vadis (1951) and El Cid (which he scored the same year as King of Kings). Miklós Rózsa (1907--1995) was a Hungarian-born composer trained in Germany and active in France, England, and the United States with extensive sojourns in Italy. Famous for his nearly one hundred film scores, he nevertheless maintained a steadfast allegiance to absolute concert music throughout what he called his "double life." MDINA Mdina, Città Vecchia, or Città Notabile, is the old capital of Malta. Mdina is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the centre of the island. Punic remains uncovered beyond the city's walls suggest the importance of the general region to Malta's Phoenician settlers. Mdina is commonly called the "Silent City" by natives and visitors. Mdina was ...

John Williams' 80th Birthday Medley John Williams' 80th Birthday Medley John Williams' 80th Birthday Medley
John Williams, born February 8th 1932, turns 80 today. He is the greatest composer of our time and I say of all time. He's received 5 Academy Awards and over 45 nominations. In just two weeks I put together this medley of themes from his film scores and other works, taking some of my favorite pieces of his and having the fun of leaning each one completely by ear. I wanted to provide a fun, fresh look at some of the works in his career, the famous ones like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter, and the less well know ones like Jane Eyre, The Cowboys, and his theme for NBC Football! This medley includes 0:00 ET The Extra-Terrestrial (Academy Award) 1:01 Jurassic Park 1:55 Close Encounters of the Third Kind 2:09 Jaws (Academy Award) 2:24 Star Wars (Academy Award) 3:33 Superman: The Movie 4:24 The Witches of Eastwick 4:54 Jane Eyre 5:53 Indiana Jones 7:11 The Cowboys 7:33 The Terminal 7:59 Fiddler on the Roof (Academy Award) 8:33 AI Artificial Intelligence 9:52 NBC Sunday Night Football 10:17 Schindler's List (Academy Award) 10:59 Harry Potter There were more, but I didn't have the time to include them. John Williams is the greatest and may he create wonderful music for years to come! Enjoy, comment, share this tribute with your friends!

Madonna: Sooner or later (Classic performance at the Academy Awards 1991) Madonna: Sooner or later (Classic performance at the Academy Awards 1991) Madonna: Sooner or later (Classic performance at the Academy Awards 1991)

"The Train Kept A Rollin" Aerosmith The Midnight Special 1974 Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "The Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston. They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of multi-platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album, followed by their 1974 album Get Your Wings. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks cemented their status as hard rock superstars. The band released two more albums, toured extensively, and charted a string of Hot 100 singles. By the end of the 1970s, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army". However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which resulted in the departures of Perry and Whitford, in 1979 and 1981 ...

Dance of the Little Swans - Matthew Bournes's Swan Lake Dance of the Little Swans - Matthew Bournes's Swan Lake Dance of the Little Swans - Matthew Bournes's Swan Lake
Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is a piece of ballet-influenced contemporary dance choreographed by Matthew Bourne that was first staged at Sadler's Wells theatre in London in 1995. The longest running ballet in London's West End and on Broadway, it has enjoyed two successful tours in the UK and thrilled audiences in Los Angeles, Europe, Australia and Japan.[1] The ballet is based loosely on the Russian romantic ballet Swan Lake, from which it takes the music by Tchaikovsky and the broad outline of the plot. Stylistic inspiration also came from the Alfred Hitchcock film The Birds. The ballet is particularly known for having the parts of the swans danced by men rather than women. The ballet has proved enormously successful, with touring companies playing to sold-out houses around the world, and it has won a string of prestigious awards. The ballet was called "a miracle" in a Time Out New York review. However, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake has also been rebuked by some who resent changes to the standard Russian classic.

5. Le Coup De Tonnerre- The Thunder Storm - Patrick Doyle (*Indochine*) 5. Le Coup De Tonnerre- The Thunder Storm - Patrick Doyle (*Indochine*) 5. Le Coup De Tonnerre- The Thunder Storm - Patrick Doyle (*Indochine*)
Original score by Scottish composer Patrick Doyle for the 1992 feature film. © Patrick Doyle and Warner France, 1992. All rights reserved. "Indochine" is a period movie, a love story but also an epic film. So, 'You want epic, I'll give you epic' Doyle said. Brass, cymbal crashes, timpani and strings give the high scope needed in the first part of the track --the kind of strong writing Doyle's not usually recognized for but the kind he writes the best. Then we get one of the few examples of ethnic touch of the score (Doyle never adresses the location with much care) when a sort of Chinese percussion sounds and introduces a full statement Camille's theme again in the middle of the cue.
