Indian Classical Music / interview with Darbar Festival director Sandeep Virdee
Heres a short interview I did in London, April 2009, with Sandeep Virdee, artistic director of Darbar South Asian Music Festival, while the 2009-edition of the festival was taking place. The pictures are taken from Darbar Festival programme info publications, showing a few artists who performed at the festival. See for more information about the Darbar Festival www.darbar.uk.oorg and www.youtube.com/darbarfestival . PS The music at the beginning and end of the video is violinist Kala Ramnath and tabla player Satyajit Talwalkar playing raag Dinky Puriya in theatre RASA in Utrecht in 2006, taken from one of my own video-recordings of Kala Ramnath in 2006.

Truth Festival live band Gaz... youtube.com/imageofreality
Music. The band in this video were recorded playing at the Truth Festival near Bristol in the UK, autumn 2006. Lineup consists of guitar and drums only. Not sure of their name..possibly Gaz...if you know, maybe leave a comment. Sounds melodic poppy punky. The drummer has a unique playing style. The Truth Festival was a small-scale affair. A mixture of live music and lectures.

IDOL X Ben & Jerrys Sundae 2010
Perched under the plane speckled sky of Heathrows final approach, Clapham Common stretched out its limbs on the weekend of the 24th July, basking in the sunshine to welcome Ben & Jerrys Sundae festival. The green dimple on the worn face of urban South London played host to two days crammed full of live music, all topped of with countless dollops of ice cream. The weekend not only saw performances from up and coming UK bands, such as Slow Club, Pearl and the Puppets, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Little Fish and Goldheart Assembly, but it also saw the inhalation of a more than ridiculous amount of Ben & Jerrys ice cream. In total, 12 500 litres of the 19 different flavours on offer passed from freezer to mouth. If I cant fit into anything I own after this weekend, the blame lies entirely with the fact that the ice cream was not only prolific, but completely free of charge. Back to the music. Whilst many of the festival goers enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the weekend, sprawled across the grassy common, accompanied by an assortment of picnic hampers to wallow effortlessly in sound. IDOL was backstage, getting our teeth into some of the UKs most promising bands... by Ben Schofield Video edited by Rodion Jefferson

ChristAL Live
Christal Chrissy and Alex. Since joining forces as a duo in 2000 Chrissy and Alex spent the first 3 years on Italys southern coast. Performing together, they honed their harmonising skills and created a varied repertoire. First love for both performers is the chance to sing and play acoustically. We love taking a cover version of a favourite piece and making it our own, It feels like a new song for us then Having played at numerous diverse events, everything from wedding receptions for movie stars to festivals featuring full Symphonic orchestra backing gave us a sense of adventure. We can play just as easily for a crowd of 20 as for 2000. Its all in the performance, and for us every event is unique. Since re-locating to England in 2004 ChristAL have really stretched the boundaries. We play music for a living, which means that whilst we have our own preferences we understand that the clients needs and expectations must be catered for if you want to make a living from music. This has lead to the repertoire list we have today, but no two functions are the same for us, we like to tailor our performance to the re-action of the audience, we never play songs in a specific order, we have to retain spontaneity its an essential part of the atmosphere. With our recording studio at home now we are constantly working on new ideas. A single to follow up on the success of All roads lead to Rome will be next. Rome reached the number one...
