Here is a short video I made for Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall in Arendal, Norway. It is a tour through parts of the permanent, contemporary collection at the art gallery. The idea was to make a visual representation of how art communicates with the viewers emotions, and it was very inspiring to animate other artists work. Objects and artists: "Triplane" schetches for a Mechanical Sunrise, Espen Dietrichson, 2008. "Kjartan as Marilyn", Kjartan Slettemark 2003. "Painter in living Daylight", Ole Jørgen Ness, 2005. "Vellexon 1.2.", Kira Wager, 2008. "In the flexible, closed Room of the Illusion", Bjørn Carlsen, 1991. Without title, Jan Freuchen. "Cut Flowers", Inger Johanne Rasmussen, 2006. The music was sampled from a piece by Ingebrigt Håker Flaten & Håkon Kornstad and remixed by me. The video was filmed by hand with a digital SLR camera and animated with Photoshop and After Effects.

This is "Positive Force" from "PPPPPP - The VVVVVV Soundtrack". The game was made by Terry Cavanagh, the music composed by Magnus Pålsson aka SoulEye: www.youtube.com VVVVVV is an indie retro platformer in which you don't jump, but instead reverse gravity, with visuals reminiscent of the Commodore 64 era. The soundtrack, called PPPPPP, is composed in a corresponding chiptune style and often cited as a favorite among 2010 game soundtracks, and I can only concur - it is a truly modern re-imagining of chiptune music. For me, the most intruiging thing about it is its complexity. The pieces have so many different layers and musical ideas going on at the same time without ever getting muddy or confusing. Although laden with so many patterns and melodies, they never lose their clarity, and that is very attractive and sets it apart from all other chiptune music I have heard before. This recording was done back in November. It has its fair share of flaws and that grand had surely seen better days before. I've done an improved digital recording shortly after that which you can find on the newly released PPPPPP Remix/Arrange Album („PPPPPPowerup!") to which I also contributed another arrangement.
