Here we have another typical morning of "oh it's busy so driving properly goes out of the window. Starts with RV61 DVG (black Volvo) passing was too near on approach to junction of car park with car waiting to pull out... Hey Volvo driver, sometimes they just pull out of here without looking... Then on to York Park and Ride bus driver. Not the one I am waiting behind, the one at the junction on the left. I am waiting behind the first bus as it's a narrow gap up to that point and people have a tend to just pull out of this junction without looking at the bikes, you know, using the bike lane. I'd expect better from a professional driver though... Just cuts out into the path of cyclists. Not dangerous speeds or anything, just bloody rude. Next up is Van driver YB09 NZD. For some reason needs to pull back in to left lane before overtaking both cyclists, then pulls out in to outside lane again, eventually takes next left. Again, not massively dangerous but rude and seeing a van moving in towards you is enough to scare some cyclists. Next up, Spar lorry and following blue car decide that despite there being a queue of traffic anyway, they'll simply pull out and block off the path of all the traffic in my right turn lane which has no traffic on the other side. Very rude, more important that they squeeze to sit in a queue than allow everyone else to get past. Next up, a cyclist finds YH57 FON Merc wants to keep him squashed in moving along very slowly with traffic. Dunno why this ...

I outfitted the buggy with a pair of XKGLOW 18W LED Flood lights. Each LED light should have an output of 1500 lumens or about half of one 35W HID. There were already a pair of 100W halogen spots that we retrofitted with 35W HID lamps but the beams are pretty narrow. The LED floods should help light the sides and surface of the road. They'll also be useful at times when the HID aren't needed. The turn signals are also from XKGLOW and are the 6LED Ultra Bright Pods. They are very small and affix with adhesive tape. I wired them to an electronic (not thermal) flasher relay and then through an ON/OFF/ON switch to control the signalling side. I ran the flasher before the switch so I could use just one flasher for both sides. Unfortunately this doesn't allow for a hazard function. Coinciding with its debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, Kia has revealed the first details and images of the new Track'ster concept. Despite sharing its underpinnings with the boxy Soul, this new concept is all about high performance. It gets its inspiration from a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that generates 250 hp ( 186 kW / 253 PS ). Power is passed to the wheels via its electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system and six-speed manual transmission that features a tubby spherical shift lever. The aggressive design draws on the basic principles of the boxy Soul, but adds a far meatier impression for onlookers. It rides on a set of 19 inch high-performance wheels that are attached to a lowered sport suspension kit that has been tuned for track performance. "The idea was to make the Track'ster tough looking, like a bulldog," said Tom Kearns, Kia Chief Designer. "But the car had to be approachable as well. We wanted to base the car in reality so people instantly knew it was a Soul, but with a lot of attitude. It had to be a bold interpretation that would change people's conceptions of what a sporty Kia could be." Unfortunately, Kia has already confirmed there are no plans to develop the concept into a full production vehicle. "Concept cars are icing on the cake," said Chief designer for KMA, Tom Kearnes.
